About the event
Arctic whaler Nathaniel Ransom, who served as third mate of one of these ships and survived the loss of thirty-two whaling vessels in the frigid waters off Alaska’s Icy Cape in 1871, kept a journal detailing eyewitness accounts of these events. Co-sponsored by NH Humanities.
